A motor cruiser almost had to be rescued by the coastguard after it ran aground near Ipswich Docks.

The boat Nicola Anne, which had five adults and two children on board, came to grief at the dock entrance.

It happened at around 7.15pm yesterday.

The situation was monitored by the dock staff, who had notified Thames Coastguard, until the vessel reportedly refloated and was able to moor safely.
