Volunteers are wanted to help welcome people to Ipswich and “enhance visitor experience”.

The uniformed All About Ipswich or Ipswich Central Place Makers will begin this summer working two hours a week on a Friday or Saturday.

People could help tourists with a range of tasks, including directing people to the right bus stop, finding somewhere to eat, and signposting them to historical places of interest they might have otherwise missed.

Sophie Alexander, operations manager at Ipswich Central, said: “The role of a Place Maker will be varied and no two days will be the same.”
