The Post Office has confirmed its final decision over closures more than a dozen Suffolk post offices.
Ipswich MP Chris Mole was delighted Fore Street would remain open.
He said: “I am pleased the Post Office has listened to my appeals in this case and the representations of all the other people of Ipswich who have let me have their views, or expressed them directly to the company.
“However, I am disappointed that the closure of the other offices will go ahead given the additional travel this will mean for some in the community to get to a post office.”
