Up-market takeaway Pret A Manger has submitted a detailed planning application for its proposed new site on Ipswich Cornhill.
The application is expected to be discussed by members of the planning and development committee within the next few weeks – but there is not expected to be any major objection.
The plans show the detailed lay-out of the ground floor of the takeaway/restaurant, with serving areas, chiller cabinets for fresh food, and hot food areas.
The company plans to install more tables upstairs for customers who want to eat on the premises.
The new takeaway will take up about half the former Grimwades/Clinton Cards store in the area facing the Cornhill and using the feature corner entrance.
The rear of the former store, facing Westgate Street, has been separated and is being marketed for another tenant – it is believed to have attracted the attention of a bank.
