Ipswich: Reservists flying flag for the troops

A GROUP of Army reservists who are based in Ipswich are calling for people to show their support for servicemen and women ahead of Armed Forces Day next week.

The Ipswich-based 158 Royal Anglian Transport Regiment RLC have been flying their flag ahead of Armed Forces Day, which will see a flag raising ceremony at the Town Hall in Ipswich on Monday.

The raising of the flag will herald the start of a week of events which will culminate with a national event in Plymouth on Saturday, June 30.

On Wednesday, June 27, some of the 30,000 UK Forces reservists, including those in Ipswich, will be wearing their uniforms for the annual Uniform to Work Day.

Armed Forces Day is held every year to recognise servicemen and women who are currently serving and those who served in the past.

It is also used to show support to people who will serve in the future.

People and organisations across the country are set to hold their own events throughout the week to celebrate the day.
