The boss of the McColl’s store in the Sailmakers shopping centre, Ipswich, has scooped two awards in recognition for her efforts.
Sue Senderski, who took over the store 15 months ago, won the food to go award and the store manager of the year gong at the McColl’s awards presentation evening, fending off competition from the firm’s other 1,600 stores in the UK.
The mum-of-one was originally from Ashton-under-Lyne near Manchester, but moved to Suffolk to be closer to her daughter in Bury St Edmunds.
She said: “I was absolutely thrilled. I have been with the company for 17 years but I’ve never won anything in my life.
“I knew I had a good chance in the food to go awards because the Ipswich store sells more than any other McColls store in the country.
“Our biggest seller is our eight-inch sausage rolls and I’m sure it’s the lovely smell of baking that helps us sell so many. They’re irresistible.”
