Ipswich sportsmen German teen appeal
SPORTS stars from Ipswich School are about to feature in the pages of a German teenage magazine.Writer Julian Earwaker was a pupil at the school in Henley Road in the 1970s – and has just paid a return visit to interview some of the school's keenest young sportsmen.

SPORTS stars from Ipswich School are about to feature in the pages of a German teenage magazine.
Writer Julian Earwaker was a pupil at the school in Henley Road in the 1970s – and has just paid a return visit to interview some of the school's keenest young sportsmen.
Their comments will be included in a feature he is writing for the German teen magazine Spot On. Julian, based in Ipswich, writes for a number of German publications.
"This piece is about sport and English education," he explained. "The main focus will be on traditional sports such as rugby and cricket, which the Germans see as typical of what goes on in English schools."
Julian talked to students Ian Swallow, a keen cricketer and captain of the school's first eleven, Oliver Didham, who has played hockey at regional and national levels, Matt Wilmshurst and Oliver Didham.

As well as writing for magazines, Julian is passionate about detective fiction and his book Scene of the Crime is due to be published by Aurum Press in September.
The book is about the settings of well-known detective tales, and has a foreword by PD James, who has set many of her bestselling novels in Suffolk and East Anglia.
