It was something of a winter wonderland setting when Ipswich Town took on Leicester City at Portman Road in December 2010. Were you among the crowd for the match?
Thick, fluffy snow covered the pitch and the stands, but in an unexpected move the match was given the go ahead following a pitch inspection which declared it safe for play.
Club staff swept most of the snow to the sidelines and the match kicked off as usual.
However, the game wasn’t without its interruptions, as 15 minutes into the second half referee Stuart Attwell halted play to allow ground staff to clear snow from the pitch once again and remark the lines.
It was Roy Keane’s men that ended up on top, scoring three goals in the first half of the game. David Norris netted an early goal in six minutes and Jason Scotland scored a brace before the first half whistle.
With the game finishing 3-0 to Ipswich Town, it put an end to a six game winless run and would go on to give Keane a brief lifeline as manager for Town.
