Pub and club-goers in Ipswich will again have the chance to vote for the venue they think is the best in the town.

This year’s Best Bar None Awards will see the return of the People’s Choice award, sponsored by the Ipswich Star, which gives customers the chance to say which licensed premises they feel provide a safe, secure and welcoming environment.

The Best Bar None scheme aims to promote the responsible operation and management of pubs, bars and clubs in Ipswich and is run by Ipswich Borough Council (IBC) and supported by Ipswich Central, Suffolk Police Crime Commissioner Tim Passmore and Suffolk Constabulary.

The awards recognise the efforts of those who have been given the accreditation, with last year’s People’s Choice award won by Bowmans on Falcon Street.

A spokesman for IBC said they were delighted that the number of premises signed up to Best Bar None had yet again increased, showing customers and venue owners continued to support the valuable scheme, which is recognised nationally.

They added that the People’s Choice award is the chance for customers to have their say and vote to raise awareness of the premises they most enjoy visiting.

The competition’s other nine awards will be decided by a panel of judges, with venues having been able to nominate themselves for up to three of the categories.

To vote for your favourite venue fill out the form in today’s Ipswich Star and send it to Best Bar None, Ipswich Borough Council, Second Floor, Grafton House, 15-17 Russell Rd, Ipswich, IP1 2DE. Winners will be announced in Christchurch Park on July 3.
