A woman who was involved in a car crash in Cromwell Square car park yesterday has suffered life-changing leg injuries.

The 66-year-old was in a Honda CR-V which collided with a Ford Focus around 6.40pm, pushing it on top of a wall outside St Nicholas Church.

She was taken to Ipswich Hospital after the crash where; police said today she later had surgery on her legs.

A spokesman for the force also said no one else was injured and no arrests were made.

Officers put up police tape around the scene of the crash for several hours.

The Ford was left teetering on the brick wall along the edge of the grounds of the church, which is also used as the St Edmundsbury and Ipswich Diocesan offices.
