ONE of Suffolk's most famous farmers is taking a rash measure to ensure his precious pigs are protected when he hosts a music festival on his land next month.

These pampered porkers live at Jimmy's Farm in Wherstead, near Ipswich, where the Harvest at Jimmy's festival takes place over the weekend of September 12 and 13.

The farm belongs to Jimmy Doherty and has been featured in the Jimmy's Farm BBC series.

The festival is a celebration of great music and food and will feature top pop acts including KT Tunstall, Athlete and Badly Drawn Boy as well as cooking demonstrations from a host of leading chefs, such as James Martin and Gennaro Contaldo.

To help protect the animals' ears over the weekend, Jimmy has been testing out some special ear protectors, although his award-winning pigs were not so keen on the idea.

He said: “The last thing we want to do is disturb the farm's most important residents - the pigs.”
