ONLY a few weeks after teenager Kara Tournay-Godfrey lost her brave battle against liver cancer her family and friends are working hard to preserve her memory.

Their wish is to refurbish one of the rooms in the Bergholt Ward at Ipswich Hospital where she spent her last days.

The plan for Kara's Room, as it will be known, is to put in patio doors and make a garden outside with enough room for a bed to be wheeled out.

It is a tall order and one which will need at least £11,000 to complete but her family and friends are determined to make it happen.

Her cousin Renee Wright is organising a fund-raising evening at Ransomes Sports and Social Club in Sidegate Lane, Ipswich on Friday.

"This is the first of a series of things we have planned and we just want as many people as possible to get involved and help make this dream come true. It will be a great way to pay tribute to Kara and this is our first step," she said.

The evening will start at 7.30pm and there will be a raffle with some great prizes. There will also be an auction with a signed England shirt up for grabs.

It promises to be a great night for a wonderful cause.

If you would like to go along them please call Renee on Ipswich 348314 or 07766-220445.
