A RAPIST who subjected a 21-year-old woman to a sickening sexual attack has today been jailed for life.

Disabled Robert English, 58, was told by judge Neil McKittrick at Ipswich Crown Court that he must serve seven-and-a-half years in prison before he would be considered for parole.

English, of Fiddlewood Road, Norwich, had previously pleaded guilty to kidnapping the women, false imprisonment, sexual assault, assault by penetration and two counts of rape. The June 14 attack took place at Tesco in Brandon in broad daylight.

He duped his victim into helping him by pretending to be struggling with heavy bags- and then bundled her into the boot of his 4x4 at knifepoint.

English drove her to a country hideaway after a twenty minute drive. Once there, he raped her twice and threatened to kill her if she did not do as he said.

The three-hour ordeal only ended when she was dumped by her attacker in a Brandon industrial estate.

English had no previous convictions and so his DNA was not on the police register.

However, the victim was able to give police a detailed description which led detectives to English's door.

It is believed the victim's recollection of the isolated spot where she was taken matched a similar location familiar to local police.

DNA tests later confirmed that police had snared the Brandon rapist.
