Firefighters were sent to tackle a blaze that broke out in a flat in Ipswich this afternoon.

Two crews from Ipswich East and Princes Street managed to put out flames at the property in London Road, off Handford Road, within 20 minutes of arriving.

A fire spokesman said the blaze started in the kitchen.

They added: “Crews used two sets of breathing apparatus and one hose reel jet to extinguish the fire and used positive pressure ventilation to clear the smoke.”

No-one is thought to have been hurt in the fire.
