PROCEEDS from a grand auction night in aid of former speedway star Lol Hare totalled £14,600 – pushing the fund for his future to £131,000.
The count-up has revealed that the event on Friday night was a massive boost for the Lawrence Hare Fund.
The fund, run by his aunt Lynn Dennis and former speedway promoter Mike Western in conjunction with the Evening Star, surged well past the original target of £100,000.
Mrs Dennis said: "It was a wonderful night and we thinking of organising another next year."
She said Lol underwent a minor operation this week and is due home in Ipswich this weekend for a visit.
