IN April last year the lonely plight of Lola the Neapolitan bullmastiff touched the hearts of EADT readers across the region.
The three-and-a-half-year-old, who has one eye and was suffering the effects of being fed just one fishfinger a day, was unloved and homeless and in desperate need of new owners.
However following an appeal from Pampered Pets dog rescue centre in Hacheston, near Woodbridge, it looked as if her story would have a happy ending.
The centre was inundated with calls and Lola - who bears a striking resemblance to Hagrid the giant's boarhound, Fang, from the Harry Potter books - was taken in by a couple from Norwich.
But unfortunately she has now been returned and the centre is once again hoping kind-hearted readers will be able to help.

Jane Fernandez-Lee, owner of Pampered Pets, said: “It is an extremely sad story. Lola is very loving and absolutely adorable. She just needs a home.
“The people who brought her back said she was an absolute princess and that she had a lovely nature.
“They didn't want to return her but they felt they had no choice. I believe they owned a pack of dogs and they really felt she needed to have a home of her own.
“The appeal was so successful last time, we had over 200 phone calls. We're hoping that we have a similar response.
“Whoever takes her on will have to be quite fit and strong, either currently without a dog or with dogs of a similar size.”
