Drivers heading towards Felixstowe on the A14 are being warned they may face delays after a lorry broke down on the exit slip road at Copdock.

The HGV, which is having trouble with its gearbox, is partially blocking the offslip at junction 55.

Heavy traffic has been reported in the area, a police spokeswoman said, and recovery for the vehicle is not expected to arrive until approximately 10.40am.

Motorists are currently queuing between the A14’s junctions with Claydon and Wherstead as a result.

The police spokeswoman added: “A lorry has broken down on the A14 at Copdock. We were called to the scene at around 8.20am to reports the vehicle had broken down on the exit slip road on the eastbound section of the A14.

“There are long tailbacks at the moment and traffic is heavy around the Copdock Interchange.

“Officers said recovery is not expected to arrive for about an hour so the delays could continue past the morning rush hour.”
