The friends will be entering their gravity-powered, engine-less soapbox vehicle into the downhill time trial race at Alexandra Palace, in London – watched by thousands of trackside supporters.

The ‘Game of Gnomes’ team, comprising three mechanical engineers and an electrician at the Port of Felixstowe, are Ipswich’s Rob Dardry-Welham, Ben Harvey, driver Austin Head, and Laura Taylor, from Harwich.

Their vehicle was inspired by the Daenerys Targaryen’s dragon from the Game of Thrones series.

Highlights from the 450m downhill course will be shown on Dave, from 5pm-8pm, on Sunday.
