POSTAL customers in the IP postcode area are getting a first class service from the Royal Mail, claims a new quarterly report published today by Postwatch.

The consumer council for postal services report shows that 92.7 per cent mail sent first class from the Ipswich area between April and June this year arrived at their destinations the next working day.

This not only beats the 90.5pc target each postcode area in the country has to meet to comply with the licence Royal Mail has to deliver services but also beats the national overall target of 92.5pc, claims the report.

There was further good news for customers when the new figures – provided to Postwatch as part of Royal Mail's licence requirement – also revealed that for the same period 93.5pc of first class letters posted from and to addresses in the Ipswich area were delivered next working day, again beating the postcode target of 92.5pc.

David Ivall, Royal Mail's area general manager for the region, said: "Our commitment to provide our customers in Ipswich with the highest standards of mail services possible is once again demonstrated by our results.

"The collective determination and effort of our local employees is something of which they can be justly proud and I would like to thank them for their individual contributions," he added.
