IT IS your village, make it how you want it, is the rallying cry to the people of Martlesham.

Big changes are afoot for the village and Lynn Lodge from the parish council has renewed her appeal to get the people living there involved.

As reported in the Evening Star last week, a new village plan is underway and residents were being encouraged to come forward and join the steering committee that will make the change possible.

But so far no-one has volunteered and time is running short to get things started and stop the village being merged into Suffolk Coastal's new district plan.

Mrs Lodge said it is extremely important for people in the parish to come up with ideas for the changes they want to see.

She said: "The residents of this parish should have a direct input into this plan and this is an opportunity for that to happen."

A district plan is also in progress but the parish plan will give villagers the chance to make sure changes happen that are relevant to them rather than Suffolk Coastal as a whole.

The steering committee will be responsible for drawing up a questionnaire to survey what people want before drawing up the plan.

In a bid to get more people interested in the project, there are also plans to have a stall at the Music on the Green Day in July.

n. There are still two vacancies for councillors on Martlesham parish council.
