The makers of a short film set in Suffolk and starring local actors say the shoot went "really well" and "highlighted the beauty" found in many of the locations featured.

Cinematographer Sam Travis said he wanted to capture the “desolate beauty” of the county he grew up in while shooting Eat Your Principles, which “wrapped” earlier this week.

The film, written and directed by Ana García Rico, tells the story of “a war between an isolated man and his conscience” whose outlook on life begins to change after being followed by a duck, played by Pueblo the Duck.

Mr Travis, who grew up in Claydon, studied film at University of Arts London and has worked on previous award-winning projects, said last month he was “overwhelmed” by the local response to the film, after more than 300 offers of support came flooding in.

A crowd-funding campaign eclipsed its £5,000 target by 20%, with the extra cash going towards the distribution of the film, which will be submitted to national and international film festivals.

“Overall, the shooting phase went really well,” Mr Travis said. “We were extremely lucky with the weather which also reflected the idyllic nature of the film that Ana Garcia Rico wanted from the original script.

“As well as this, it also highlighted the beauty found in many of the locations we visited. It was a huge risk shooting at that point in the year but I think we pulled it off.

“The extras we enlisted also looked the part in their costumes and really added an essential layer of depth, certainly bringing the film to life. All of the local crew did an incredible job and it honestly would not have been at all possible without their help.

“I also feel it’s very important to mention that one of our main stars, Pueblo the Duck, gave a sterling performance and looked great on camera – he truly is a star in the making.”
