A GOALKEEPER who admitted using sex images in a bid to blackmail £15,000 from a Premier League star has been told he faces jail.

The player who Ashley Timms - an ex-Manchester City trainee - demanded the cash from cannot be named for legal reasons.

The 22-year-old, from Middleton in Greater Manchester, appeared before Manchester Crown Court today and pleaded guilty to making a series of unwarranted demands, namely to publish images of a sexual nature, with menaces.

He was bailed until September 5 for sentencing - but told that a jail term was inevitable.

Timms is currently without a club but has had spells at Altrincham, Atherton LR, Curzon Ashton, Mossley, Shrewsbury Town, Runcorn and Accrington Stanley.

He also had trials at Norwich City, Bolton Wanderers, Fulham, Oldham and Macclesfield and joined Cambridge City in January on non-contract terms but has since left.
