Police have arrested two people following an attempted robbery in Ipswich last night.
The incident happened at around 9pm yesterday, Thursday, July 27, when officers patrolling Austin Street witnessed an attempted robbery.
A 33-year-old man was approached from behind by two people who tried to grab his mobile phone out of his hand.
The victim held on to the phone, but was then pushed to the ground and assaulted.
The officers called for additional police units, with one of the pair arrested within a matter of minutes, a Suffolk police spokesman said.
The second was arrested around 20 minutes later after a search of the area.
The two detained – a 16-year-old boy and a 20-year-old man – were arrested on suspicion of robbery and taken to Martlesham police investigation centre.
The 20-year-old was released by police this afternoon under investigation, while the 16-year-old remains in custody.
