A MAN has been arrested after a woman was raped in a town centre early this morning.
The woman, who is in her mid-20s, was raped in Colchester at about 4.30am.
A man and the woman are thought to have gotten out of a taxi at East Hill, Colchester, near the junction with Roman Road.
The rape took place nearby and a forensic examination of the scene is being carried out.
A 30-year-old man has been arrested and is in custody at Colchester police station.
Detectives are asking anyone who was in the area at the time and may have seen a tall, black man and a petite, white woman to contact them.
