A MAN has today been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder following a vicious stabbing in Ipswich town centre.Ipswich police have confirmed that just before 2pm officers attended an address in Woodbridge Road, Ipswich, and arrested a 20-year-old man.

Ipswich police have confirmed that just before 2pm officers attended an address in Woodbridge Road, Ipswich, and arrested a 20-year-old man.

The arrest follows an investigation into the stabbing of 19-year-old Matthew Buckman, from Kesgrave, at about 1.45am on Sunday in an alleyway off Upper Brook Street.

Police said Mr Buckman was involved in an altercation with two men and received injuries including a stab wound to the neck.

He remains in a serious but stable condition in Addenbrooke's Hospital in Cambridge.
