A 25-year-old Leigh-on-Sea man has been arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving after a crash left a cyclist in a critical condition in hospital.

A 25-year-old Leigh-on-Sea man has been arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving after a crash left a cyclist in a critical condition in hospital.

The 55-year-old victim, from Westcliff, was riding on Westbourne Grove in the town when he was in collision with a blue Ford Mondeo at 9.25am yesterday.

He was taken to Southend University Hospital and later transferred to Queen's Hospital in Romford, where he is being treated for critical head injuries.
