A 38-YEAR-OLD man was recovering in hospital today after impaling his arm on a spike as he tried to climb over a gate in Trimley St Martin.
Fire crews had to be called to cut the man free from the 7ft-high gate, between Trimley (Cranfield) Bowls Club and Felixstowe Social Club.
It is understood the man was trying to retrieve a ball from the bowls club when the horror accident happened. The gate was topped by a number of arrows, and the man slipped, impaling his arm on one of them.
He is thought to have lost a lot of blood before being transferred to Ipswich Hospital following Saturday's incident.
