Police have arrested a man in connection with a robbery in Felixstowe last week.

It happened at about 11am on Wednesday, November 16, in Vicarage Road.

The victim was walking with her husband when they were approached from behind by a man, who grabbed her handbag off her shoulder, pulling her to the ground in the process. She initially hung on to her bag and was dragged a short distance along the grass verge before letting go.

The suspect then ran off into Oak Close, pursued by the victim’s husband, aged in his 80s, before heading into an alleyway leading into Wadgate Road.

Detectives investigating the incident arrested a 25-year-old man from Felixstowe on Monday. The man has now been bailed to return to Martlesham police investigation centre on February 8.
