A MAN who hounded hotel staff in Ipswich is today facing a jail term after breaching an anti-social behaviour order (ASBO).

Stephen Tillyer, 49, plagued receptionists at the Holiday Inn in London Road with 33 dirty phone calls between March and June last year, an Ipswich court heard.

Tillyer, who lives in Bognor Regis, West Sussex, also pestered staff at Holiday Inns in Bristol and Preston with lewd calls, all of which were in breach of an ABSO he was given by magistrates in Crawley in January 2005.

John Hardwick, prosecuting, told South East Suffolk Magistrates' Court that one woman at the Ipswich hotel, Lisa Southgate, was a particular target for Tillyer's abuse.

Mr Hardwick said: “Staff have been receiving calls since about February 2005. They didn't notify police until about February 2006. Twenty calls were received by Miss Southgate.”

Mr Hardwick added that during the calls Tillyer constantly repeated Lisa's first name and told her he wanted her knickers.

He added: “Members of staff have found the calls intimidating.”

Mr Hardwick said Tillyer was arrested by police in October 2006 and charged with breaching the ASBO which he had received in 2005.

At the time Tillyer was given the ASBO he was also sentenced to three months in prison for sending offensive, indecent, or menacing messages on November 12, 2003, and three counts of persistently using the communication network to cause annoyance, inconvenience or anxiety on July 10, July 23 and August 1, 2004.

During the latest hearing in Ipswich, Tillyer pleaded guilty to three counts of breaching an ASBO.

He will now appear before Ipswich Crown Court at a future date when he could face a jail term.
