A 22-YEAR-old man has appeared in court charged in connection with an incident in which a teenage girl was shot in the neck.

Alexander Powell, of Stoney Road, Grundisburgh, near Woodbridge, came before Bury St Edmunds Crown Court where he pleaded guilty to a charge of affray on September 12 last year.

At a previous hearing he admitted possessing a handgun without a firearm certificate on the same date.

The prosecution offered no evidence on a charge against Powell of possessing a firearm with intent to cause fear of violence and a formal not guilty verdict was ordered by Judge Nicholas Beddard.

Powell, who is expected to be sentenced by Judge Beddard in around four weeks' time, was remanded in custody.
