POLICE are appealing for information after an 18-year-old man suffered a broken nose and bruising, cuts and grazing to his face and neck in an attempted robbery in Ipswich.

POLICE are appealing for information after an 18-year-old man suffered a broken nose and bruising, cuts and grazing to his face and neck in an attempted robbery in Ipswich.

The incident took place in Murray Road at around 10.50pm on Friday.

Officers were contacted by a member of the public who saw the 18-year-old being assaulted by two youths.

The member of the public intervened, telling the offenders to leave the victim alone.

The two - described as white male teenagers wearing dark-coloured hooded tops, both of thin build and around 5ft 8ins to 5ft 9ins - then left on one bike.

Police spoke to the 18-year-old who said he had been stopped by the youths, who were both riding on the one bike, and was then assaulted.

One of the two demanded his mobile phone but the duo left empty-handed.

Detectives would like to speak to anyone who may have been in the Murray Road area at the time or anyone who may have information about the two youths on the bike.
