Nine fire crews were called to a flat fire in Ipswich this evening.
Suffolk Fire and Rescue Service, Suffolk police and the East of England Ambulance Service NHS Trust were all called to the flat, at around 7.15pm.
It was believed there was a person in the flat when the 999 call was made.
However, on arrival, fire crews found the man was being treated for what was believed to be minor burns sustained after trying to extinguish a chip pan fire with water.
Fire crews went into the flat to make sure it was safe as the fire had already been extinguished.
After the incident spokesman for the fire service made a plea for people to not tackle chip pan fires with water.
Crews had left the scene by 7.40pm.
