A 38-year-old man has been given a conditional discharge after abusing door staff at an Ipswich nightspot.

Darren Marshall, of Bramford Lane, Ipswich, appeared before South East Suffolk Magistrates Court where he pleaded guilty to being drunk and disorderly on May 10.

Prosecutor Wayne Ablitt said Marshall was queuing outside Sin Bar at around 2.25am when staff told him he would not be allowed in due to the time.

Marshall, formerly of Robin Drive then swore at the door staff and became abusive.

He began to walk away but then returned and swore at them again.

The court heard he was arrested by police with the help of the door staff..

When asked if he had anything to say in mitigation Marshall, who represented himself, said: “I would just like to apologise.”

In addition to his conditional discharge Marshall was ordered to pay £150 criminal courts charge and £15 to the victims’ fund.
