Ipswich mayor Sarah Barber has paid a visit to Ipswich Boxing Club to see how it has got on after being given a £2,000 funding boost earlier this year.
The Ipswich Borough Council south east area committee gave the club a £2,000 grant in January towards new equipment and running costs.
Since then, the club has been able to expand, moved to Foxhall Community Centre and run more sessions for youngsters.
Sarah Barber, who was chairwoman of the south east area committee when the funding was granted, said: “We are really pleased – this money is quite crucial to making sure the club continues.
“It is really good and they are showing how important area committees can be, and that funding is available.
“Sometimes it’s small amounts of money but those amounts of money can really make a difference.”
