Couples thinking about having a baby are invited to meet fertility experts at an information day.

It will take place on Saturday, June 3, from 10am to 1pm, at Ipswich Hospital’s education centre, in the lecture theatre.

Fertility consultant Djavid Alleemudder said: “This is the fourth event we’ve had where we will focus on fertility health and wellbeing, and giving advice to people no matter what stage they are at of trying to conceive. They might be a few months into trying for a baby, they might want to know how to improve their chances before even starting to try, or they may want to plan now for a family later in life. There will also be information and advice specifically for same sex couples.

“We offer our patients minimal waiting times and good success rates. One in six couples will experience difficulty conceiving a baby – it can be a difficult journey but we are here to help.”

The event marks the first anniversary of the hospital’s partnerships with two of the country’s leading fertility centres in Cambridge and London. The collaboration gives patients the chance to start treatment at Ipswich and go on to have egg collection and embryo transfer at one of the specialist centres.

Mr Alleemudder will be one of the expert speakers at the June event, joined by Cambridge IVF consultant embryologist Stephen Harbottle and Guy’s specialist nurse Christine Cross. There will also be three patients talking about their fertility experiences with the Ipswich Hospital service and willing to answer questions.

There is no need to book and guests can park for free in the hospital’s Car Park ‘J’. Cakes and refreshments will be available.
