These pictures from The Smock Pub in Maidenhall Approach will evoke fond memories for many from 1974.
The Smock pub in Ipswich is one that has stood the test of time, and has survived in an era where countless other venues have been converted into housing or small supermarkets.
The venue opened in 1950 and was originally called the Maidenhall Inn, known colloquially as ‘The Maidenhall’, before becoming The Smock in the following decade.
This gallery shows some of the many faces who frequented it in 1974, but The Smock is still open on the Maidenhall estate today.
Can you spot yourself or anyone you know in these pictures taken from our archives?
Were you a regular punter at The Smock in the 1970s, or is the venue now your local?
