More than 200 former pupils of Northgate High School in Ipswich have joined a new alumni group to help current students at the school – but more are wanted.
Members could become aspirational case studies, act as mentors or library volunteers, or help to provide work experience.
Headteacher David Hutton was inspired to create the free alumni group last November after attending a 1950s Northgate Grammar School reunion.
He said: “People’s motivation for joining our network ranges from wanting to offer something back to the school by volunteering, being an aspirational role-model, offering a work experience placement or raising funds to a desire to be included in email communications sent by other alumni organising reunions and the like.
“For our part, we are keen to welcome as many past pupils as possible to our inaugural Alumni Open Morning event on April 20.
“It will include amongst other things a tour of the school hosted by student ambassadors, refreshments made and served by our current pupils and an opportunity to browse some of the memorabilia held in the school library.”
