ACCOUNTS of more UFO sightings have flooded in to The Evening Star mailbox after several close encounters were reported in Suffolk.

Dozens of people have come forward to tell their tales of extraterrestrial experiences across the county from Ipswich to Ixworth.

An article in Wednesday's Star featured accounts from a number of people who were convinced they had seen something “out of this world” soaring through the skies.

Since then a deluge of UFO spotters have made themselves known after they experienced similar paranormal events.

After reading the story of Cathy Calthorpe and her partner Chris Betts, who claim to have seen a UFO at their Ipswich home, Steve Cotterell emailed in to say he too had seen an unusual object in the sky over Somersham.

Mr Cotterell said: “I was walking my son and his friend to his friend's house. It was about 8.30pm and above us was what we could only describe as the brightest round ball of light we had ever seen.

“It was shooting across the sky some 1,000ft above us with no sound.

“We are quite used to seeing helicopters in Somersham but this was something else.”

Mark Bennett and Tracey Phelan were also reminded of seeing three yellow and orange lights appear over The Naze at the Languard Viewing Point in Felixstowe.

“It was 8.32pm and we were watching a deep sea vessel leave the port, said Mr Bennett. “We could now clearly see three lights, not moving and silent, in a 90 degree triangle and all perfectly placed apart.

“The lights were so bright and unusual it caused us to both climb out of our car to take a better look.”

Mr Bennett, an aviation enthusiast and former employee of Felixstowe Port, is sure that what he saw was not a flare or a sky lantern, often mistaken for UFOs.

“I'm at a dead loss to explain what these lights were but it was so similar to what other people had seen,” he said.
