Football fans in Ipswich are feeling quietly confident ahead of the big match tonight as England take on Croatia for a place in the World Cup final.

As the nation waits with bated breath for tonight’s 7pm kick-off, we’ve been speaking to fans in Ipswich on how they think Gareth Southgate’s heroes will do.

Adrian from Soham said: “We have come to Ipswich for the day to have a bit of fun.

“We are going to find one of the local pubs and hopefully watch some of the football.”

Asked if he was nervous about tonight’s big match, Adrian said: “We are going to win today 2-0 hopefully, that’s what I am hoping for.

“It’s coming home, that’s all I’m going to say.”

Alfie from Ipswich said he was confident England would make it through to the final.

“It’s coming home definitely,” he said, “big time.

“We’ll finish off Croatia and then France in the final.

“It will maybe go to pens with Kane smashing in the winner.”

Jimmy, who works in the town, said he will be watching the match with his work colleagues in the pub.

“I think it is going to be 2-0,” he said.

“It’s coming home, it’s obvious it’s coming home.

“To be honest I am not a massive football fan but I have been following it religiously the last couple of weeks.

“Every since we got through to the knock-out stage I have watched every single game.

Paul Baxter from Colchester thinks England will sail through to the final.

“I’m actually quite confident, he said, “I’m actually going for 3-0.

“It’s coming home.”

Chris, who grew up in Grimsby but now lives in Ipswich said: “I They have done amazingly well haven’t they,” he said.

“The Last few years, these last few tournaments, we have been knocked out in the group stage or barely got through so to get to a World Cup semi-final is fantastic.

“Long may it continue.”
