People in Kesgrave who would like to be more involved in local government are being encouraged to put their names forward for the vacant councillor position at Kesgrave Town Council.

The vacancy arose after Jonathan Ogden resigned, with applications open to fill the vacancy until June 5.

For those interested formal notice should be given to the Suffolk Coastal District Council offices at East Suffolk House in Station Road, Melton, Woodbridge, IP12 1RT.

A spokeswoman from Kesgrave Town Council said that a by-election will be held if 10 electors give notice in writing by June 5, and added: “If no such notice is given the town council will fill the vacancy by co-option.”

Mr Ogden stood in the local elections earlier this month as an independent for the Kesgrave and Rushmere St Andrew ward, but was unsuccessful in his bid.
