DECORATED wheelie bins and disabled buggies could be among the attractions in the parade at Felixstowe Carnival this year - with people encouraged to get their imagination into gear and enter unusual items.

Organisers of the event say entry forms for the big procession are now available and they need to know as soon as possible who would like to take part.

The carnival takes place on the weekend of August 8, 9 and 10, with the theme Music.

The parade will take place on Saturday August 9 at 3pm.

Carnival committee member Michelle Scott said: “We would love to have more people taking part in the procession to make it as colourful as possible.

“One of the ideas we have had is for people to decorate their wheelie bins or their mobility scooters - it could be really fun.

“It would also allow lots more people to feel they can take part in some way.

“We need to know as soon as we can if people are interested in this as it would be great to make it an official category.

“The forms are also available now for all the usual classes.”

The cavalcade of colourful lorries, bands and majorettes will set off from Beatrice Avenue and make its way through the town and down to the seafront.

Entertainment this year will again be in Langer Park, and will include a big funfair, side stalls and games, and the children's inflatables arena, and a wide range of music - including Wham, The Spice Girls, Status Quo and Pink Floyd tribute bands.

Magician and top children's entertainer Michael J Fitch will also be appearing, and there will be a fireworks display to music from the movies.

Procession entry forms are available on the carnival website - www.felixstowecarnival.co.uk - or on 0792 119 6094 after 6pm.
