MORE people will get the chance to nominate their Star of Suffolk as scores of leaflets are distributed around the county.

As part of a bid to find people of inspiration, bravery and compassion The Evening Star and Suffolk County Council have teamed up to highlight the contributions of remarkable people.

Members of the public can nominate anyone who has become shining lights in the lives of others because of their extraordinary achievements.

A flood of nominations have already come into the Star offices but leaflets are now to be distributed across the county allowing more people to suggest those who light up the lives of others.

The leaflets will be distributed in public places including Ipswich's tourist information centre and public libraries.

Evening Star editor Nigel Pickover said: “This is a fantastic initiative by Suffolk County Council and The Evening Star.

“We are hearing about stories that we could not believe and some very special individuals will be rewarded on February 5.”

Categories include volunteer of the year, carer or foster carer of the year, courageous child, fire service person of the year, ambulance person of the year, police person of the year, search and rescue person of the year, best neighbour of the year, inspirational teacher of the year, unsung hero/heroine of the year, hospital hero/heroine of the year and outstanding bravery.

Nomination forms can also be downloaded from The Evening Star's website www.eveningstar.co.uk.

To nominate, please fill out the form below or e-mail your entry to Simon Tomlinson at simon.tomlinson@eveningstar.co.uk. Alternatively, you can visit www.eveningstar.co.uk to download a form.

The Stars of Suffolk Awards is a search for community heroes and heroines and is a joint venture between The Evening Star and Suffolk County Council.

We want you to nominate someone who has touched your life or the lives of others for a special award.

The nominations will be judged by an independent panel and the winners revealed at a multimedia gala evening at the county council's Endeavour House on Thursday, February 5.

The closing date for entries will be on Friday, January 16.
