A HELICOPTER crew from RAF Wattisham were today called upon to transport a sick patient to hospital from a North Sea oil rig.
A HELICOPTER crew from RAF Wattisham were today called upon to transport a sick patient to hospital from a North Sea oil rig.
Coastguards alerted the flight crew after receiving reports of a “very sick man” on an oil rig 30 miles north of Great Yarmouth.
A rescue helicopter was launched at around 3am to airlift him to the James Paget Hospital.
It is as yet unconfirmed why the man in his 30s had been taken ill.
