Sharon Thompson, manager of the Suffolk village pre-school, said she has been left “overwhelmed” by the community’s support.
The pre-school, a charity, suffered around £1,000 in damage after a burglary which took place between 4pm on Friday (June 30) and 8.25am on Monday (July 3). Windows, walls and flooring were damaged, and charity cash was stolen.
• Anger was vented over the ‘lowlife scumbags’ responsible for the burglary.
Parents set up an online fundraising page, which has raised over £1,100 in three days, smashing its £300 target.
Mrs Thompson said: “It’s absolutely amazing. Staff can’t believe how charitable everyone has been. We’ve been supported by people we don’t even know. I am just overwhelmed.
“Parents have also been very supportive and offered us any help. I would like to thank everyone who has helped us.”
The pre-school reopened on Tuesday and held a sports day, including egg and spoon and sack races.
“It went really well,” Mrs Thompson added. “Our older children took part in running races. It was great to see everyone come together.”
