A burst water main has closed a Suffolk sports centre.

Peninsula Sports Centre, at Holbrook Academy, in Holbrook, told customers on Facebook the facility would be closed as there was no running water on site.

The water main on Ipswich Road, the same street as the sports centre, was reported as burst at 1.28pm.

It is believed water will be restored at 6pm.

On Facebook, Peninsula Sports Centre said: “Due to a burst mains water pipe in Holbrook, leaving us with no running water to the facilities we have closed the sports centre until further notice.

“We apologise for any inconvenience caused and we hope to be open again soon.”

Sarah Dobson from Anglian Water said: “We are very sorry some customers in Holbrook village may be experiencing low water pressure or no water at all.

Our engineers are working hard to repair a burst water main on Ipswich Road, which was reported to us this afternoon.

“When the repair is completed and water supplies return to normal, the water may look cloudy or discoloured. If customers run their tap for a couple of minutes this should clear.
