A POLICE investigation has been launched after an 85-year-old woman was robbed in her own home.

A POLICE investigation has been launched after an 85-year-old woman was robbed in her own home.

The woman, who lives in the Gipping Way and Church Lane area of Sproughton, was attacked at around 6.15pm yesterday.

She answered a knock at the door and found a man on her doorstep who initially said there was a problem outside and that he needed to come in.

He was then joined by two other men who forced their way into her home.

The pensioner was knocked to the floor and held down while the other two offenders searched her property.

A wallet containing cash was stolen.

The woman sustained bruising to her arms and was left extremely shaken by the incident.

One of the men is described as white, is his 30s, of medium build and smartly dressed in a dark suit and light shirt and tie.

Another was white, in his late 20s to early 30s, of slim build, while the third was white, and of medium build.

A man, dressed similarly to the first offender, was seen standing near a black car in the area at around the same time as the attack.
