I RECENTLY published a photograph taken in the 1950s of W Taylor's greengrocers shop on The Mount, Ipswich.
The shop was well known for the range of pickles they sold.
R Read, of Lonsdale Close, Ipswich, said: “My father Jim Read used to prepare the pickles for Bill Taylor and as young children my two brothers and I used to endure the pickle preparations in our living room at 34 Samuel Road, while dad pickled sacks of onions.
“We had scrubbed metal baths full of horseradish roots which were cut and minced prior to bottling. We were all streaming with tears from the fumes. My father also used to deliver fruit and vegetables to homes in the area of the shop using the trade bike featured in the photograph.”
