More than 50 people attended a poetry performance fundraiser in Ipswich in aid of a mental health support charity.
Poetry Soup was held at the Avenue Theatre, Gippeswyk Hall on Saturday, November 18 to raise cash for Inside Out Community, which offers therapeutic art workshops for people who have experienced mental illness.
Suffolk-based Welsh poet Ian Griffiths read poems by Dylan Thomas and some of his own work from his recently published collection, Conversation with Birds.
Poems by Leo George, Jon Fuller and Pete Watkins from Inside Out were also enjoyed by the audience.
After the performance, members of the crowd were treated to a mug of soup.
In her introduction to the event, Jan Addison, a co-founder of Inside Out, said creative writing and particularly poetry played a big part in the charity’s arts programme.
The event raised £361 for Inside Out.
