ESSEX police are appealing for witnesses or information after a man threatened to rob a women in Halstead.

ESSEX police are appealing for witnesses or information after a man threatened to rob a women in Halstead.

At about 8pm on January 7, a man attempted to rob a woman who was using a cashpoint outside Lloyds Bank in the High Street.

The man approached her and demanded money, he then continued to show her what appeared to be a handgun tucked into the top of his trousers.

He is described as 5ft 3ins, of a slim to medium build, wearing dark jogging bottoms with stripes, a black jacket and a dark balaclava.

The 27-year-old woman, of Braintree, refused to give him anything, shouted at him and he ran off down an alleyway.
