A 14-YEAR-OLD girl has been arrested on suspicion of stealing goods, including cosmetics and jewellery, totalling more than �1,000.

A 14-YEAR-OLD girl has been arrested on suspicion of stealing goods, including cosmetics and jewellery, totalling more than �1,000.

The teenager was originally arrested on suspicion of stealing �70 worth of cosmetics from a town centre store in King Street, Thetford yesterday.

During a subsequent search at a local property, officers discovered and seized a further quantity of stolen goods including cosmetics and jewellery.

In total the goods have been valued at more than �1,000.

The girl, who cannot be named for legal reasons, has been bailed pending the outcome of a police investigation.

Thetford PC Claire Brightman said: “Police and retailers in Thetford are working closely to target, disrupt and prosecute thieves. It's a crime which hits both business and law-abiding citizens in their pockets and we will take action against anyone found shoplifting.”
